Taking Notes
Chapter 4
Taking notes from a lesson and/or textbook is crucial in passing your quizzes, and exams. You can take notes in your notebook by going to 'Courses' then,'My Notebooks' and creating a notebook for each specific course, and finally beginning your notes. The recommended format for notes is as follows:
Subject(What you are taking notes on)
Your source(Where you got the info, including page # if applicable)
Now,on the left hand side you should be writing headings, chapter titles, vocabulary words, questions, anything of importance(Though the question format is reccomended). Some examples would be "Taking Notes" "Why Notes Are Important" or "'Notes' Definition".Then on the right, next to the corresponding topic, you would be writing some details. For "Taking Notes" I might write:Can take notes from a lesson or textbook. For "Why Notes are Important" I could write:Good notes produce higher test scores. Finally,For "'Notes' Definition" I could say:A brief record of facts or thoughts, written down to aid memory.
Lastly,At the bottom of your page, possibly the most important element of your notes,is the summary. In 3-5 sentences summarize the main points of everything that you covered in your notes.
I recommend that your points on the left side be phrased in the form of a question or definition, because it will greatly aid you when studying,or completing an assignment.
