Part 3 - Diseases and Ailments
Chapter 4
Now we come to the diseases and ailments that can affect a Dragon.
The first one and possibly the most well known is that of Scale Rot. It also affects other creatures such as salamanders and various reptiles (anything with scales). You will notice if the dragon in your care has scale rot because the scales take on a dull, flaky appearance and fall off in large amounts. If left untreated some smaller creatures have been known to detach the tail from the body.
In my opinion, if you are not sure, it is always best to seek advice from a professional. For Dragons the treatment is to rub the area with a solution of salt water, tar and white spirit.
Another problem with Dragons is Squabbs Syndrome. It is not heard of as much and affects the sinuses, preventing them from creating fire and makes them sneeze.
As treatment you need to give them rum and spice and keep them really warm.
