The whole island was covered in indigo moss. Small patches of green grass poked up, but they had indigo splotches on them. There were odd orange stemmed trees with violet fruit, and (What do you know!) long vines with pink berries. Without thinking, Ella grabbed a handful of berries and ate them. Almost at the same time, Dana ate the grass and Lidiya sampled a fruit.
"What are we doing?" Ella said. "We just got on a strange island and now we're eating random fruit!"
"Buf itf fo goof," Lidiya said through her mouthful. "How cuf sufing fo guf be faf fo you?"
"What?" Dana asked, looking up.
Lidiya swallowed. "But it's so good. How could something so good be bad for you?"
"Maybe that's the point," Ella said.
"Well if it is, we already ate it, so we might as well have some more," Lidiya said. But as she reached for another fruit, antlers sprouted out of her forehead! Lidiya stumbled to the ground, knocking off her shoes, which revealed hooves! "What the heck?" Lidiya sputtered. But the others payed her no attention, for they were changing as well. Ella grew wings and a tail, and Dana got a barbed tail and webs between her fingers and toes. They all stared at each other in silence for a minute, and then started freaking out.
