Chapter Twenty-Six: Green

Chapter 26
I had no idea what to do about Eloise. Now that I knew what the yellow stone could do, my decision was even harder. What do I do? For right now, I decided to ignore Eloise, and cross my fingers that she wouldn’t tell anyone. Anne agreed. We met behind Big House after I told my mom we were taking Peony for a walk. We brought Peony to the treehouse for the first time, so it really seemed like we were taking her for a walk. Peony enjoyed the treehouse, especially the flying and the pillows.
“Okay, so I think green is the one where you can create an illusion…” I muttered, fumbling with the ring box.
“Ready?” Anne squealed. “We just think of an image, then it’ll pop up and we just use the ring to control it. Simple.”
“Don’t jinx it!” I joked. Anne smiled. We slipped the green rings on. Before we made an illusion, we admired the emerald-looking stone.
“Wow.” Anne breathed. “It’s really beautiful.”
“Ready to create an illusion?” I asked when Anne was done admiring.
“Yes!” I thought and thought and decided to make a pig illusion. I thought of what I wanted it to look like, and it appeared. Anne, who was still thinking on what to do, saw it and gasped. The pig started out green and transparent, then it started to develop color and texture. Soon, it was a real looking pig. I reached over to it, but my hand passed right through. I made the pig oink and stand on its hind legs. Anne laughed. Peony spotted it and danced with it. I made the illusion turn into a frog, then made it disappear as it jumped.
“Wow!” Anne yelled. “That’s awesome!” Anne went next. She made a mini tree grow out of the ground. It started green and transparent, but soon was brown and dark green.
“Wow!” I sputtered. We watched the tree grow larger and larger. I got an idea.
“Anne! Watch this!” I used the ring to make a life size, identical version of myself. I made my illusioned-self wave and smile. Then I made myself jump and run before making her disappear. Anne did the same with herself.
“Wow!” Anne said for the millionth time. “This might be my favorite stone, besides the blue.”
“Yeah, this is so cool!” I agreed.
I stopped, suddenly. “Anne…”
“You’re thinking about Eloise, aren’t you?” Anne queried.
I nodded. “Yeah, what are we gonna do?”
“Well, we already told her...next time we see her, we’ll just say something like, ‘Sorry we can’t tell you now’ or something.”
“Kay.” I sighed. I was about to say something else when I heard the ceremony horn.
“Another ceremony?” Anne exclaimed. I sighed. We put the stones back and floated down.
As we walked home, we had an interesting conversation.
“Okay, so we tried all the stones…” I started. “We can use two at once, but not three.”
“Maybe you can only use the ones that don’t require your hand moving, like the blue.” Anne suggested.
“Hmm...I wonder if there are more stones out there.” I suddenly said. “Like pink or gray.”
“That would be cool. Maybe we can travel the world and find them!”
“Yeah!” The horn sounded again. We ran to the center of the village. I spotted my mom.
“Hey, Mom!” I whispered as Unther began talking. “What’s happening?”
“Lydia had her baby!” My mom smiled.
“Who?”
“Anne’s mom!” My eyes widened. Anne’s did to. Anne’s mom walked up holding her baby wrapped in a blanket. It was hard to tell if it was a girl or a boy.
“And does this fine child have a name?” Unther asked.
“She does.” Anne’s mom started. “Her name is Prismarine!” The crowd cheered.
“YAAAYY!” Anne screamed. “I HAVE A SISTER NAMED PRISMARINE!” We cheered together. It was considered an amazing thing when people had babies. We walked to Anne’s house together after the ceremony. I couldn't wait to meet Prismarine. When we walked in, Anne’s parents greeted us. They seemed to have gotten over the time I went in the forest, because they greeted me warmly.
“Here to meet the baby?” Anne’s mom asked. Anne’s mom gestured to Prismarine. Anne and I squealed. The baby woke up. We found this surprising, because she was only born a few hours ago.
“Hey, Prismarine!” I whispered.
“I have a sister!” Anne squeaked. Lydia laughed. Anne’s dad walked in the curtain (door).
“Hello, Prissy!” He greeted the baby.
“Prismarine!” Anne’s mom corrected, picking up the baby. “Not Prissy, not Marie, or Mary! Pris-mah-rine!” Prismarine squirmed to get in closer to her mother.
“Aw!” All four of us sighed.
“Well, I should probably go-” I started, but I was interrupted by a sudden scream.
