Wizarding War Family of the Issue

Chapter 6
*WARNING: SPOILERS FROM ALL 7 BOOKS/8 MOVIES* Ah, the Black family. Some may think the best member is Bellatrix Lestrange, while others root for Sirius Black III, but, to everyone’s surprise, the Black’s hold a deeper secret. Do you recognise these names: Callidora, Cedrella, Charis, Dorea, or Narcissa? That’s ok, these people aren’t very well-known by their first names. What about these: Longbottom, Weasley, Crouch, Potter, or Malfoy? I thought so. Yes, that’s right. These family’s (The Longbottom’s, Weasley’s, Crouch’s, Potter’s, Malfoy’s and Tonks’) are all connected thanks to the Black’s. Ok, let’s start with the Longbottom’s. A pure-blood witch named Callidora Black married Harfang Longbottom and became Callidora Longbottom. Callidora was the daughter of Arcturus Black II and Lysandra Yaxley and the sister of Charis Crouch and Cedrella Weasley. She and her husband Harfang had a son and a daughter (Their names are unknown), and is related to…You guessed it! Alice and Frank Longbottom, and their son Neville. Got it? Ok, now we’ll move on to the Weasley’s. A pure-blood witch named Cedrella Black was the daughter of Arcturus Black II and Lysandra Black and the sister of Charis Crouch and Callidora Longbottom. She married a man named Septimus Weasley (Arthur Weasley’s father), but ever since the Weasley’s protested to be involved in the sacred Twenty-Eight’ (The twenty-eight British families that were still "truly pure-blood" by the 1930s), they were known as blood traitors. So Cedrella, because of her marriage, was disowned by the Black family and burned off the Black family tree tapestry. Still, she was therefore the mother of Author Weasley, and the parental grandmother of Ginny, Ron, Fred, George, Percy, Bill and Charlie Weasley. Understand? Now for the Crouch's. A pure-blood witch named Charis Black was the daughter of Arcturus Black and Lysandra Yaxley and the sister of Callidora Longbottom and Cedrella Weasley. She married a man named Caspar Crouch and gave birth to Bartemius Crouch Senior, and two daughters. Do you get the picture? Now to move on to the Potter’s. A pure-blood witch named Dorea Black was the daughter of Cygnus Black II and Violetta Bulstrode, and the sister of Pollux Black, Cassiopeia Black, and Marius Black. She married Charlus Potter and had one son. It is unknown of the roots, it may be on of Charlus’ great-nephews once removed or something like that, but Harry Potter is in fact distantly related to Dorea Potter, making him actually related to his godfather Sirius Black. Have you taken that all in so far? Ok, now we’ll move on to the Malfoy’s. Now, you might recognise this name: Narcissa Black. Or, if it is better, Narcissa Malfoy after she married Lucius Malfoy. Her parents were Cygnus Black and Druella Rosier, and her sisters were Bellatrix Lestrange and Andromeda Tonks. She also gave birth to Draco Malfoy and has a grandson named Scorpius Malfoy. Have you absorbed all that information yet? Now for the final one: The Tonks’! Now, do you remember Narcissa’s sister Andromeda Tonks? Well, she married Ted Tonks, who just so happened to be a muggle-born. As you can imagine, She was disowned by her family and didn’t contact them apart from when her sister, Bellatrix, gave her the news of her daughter’s death. Her daughter was named Nymphadora Tonks, and Nymphadora’s son was named Edward Lupin (Andromeda raised Edward since Nymphadora went off to the Second Wizarding War). Ok? There is one more thing I must say: This strange and complicated Black family makes Sirius, Neville, Ginny, Ron, Fred, George, Percy, Bill and Charlie, Bartemius Crouch Senior, Harry, Draco, and Tonks all distantly (Some not so distantly) related. So there you have it. Now, considering these facts, who is your favourite Black family member now? - By Sabrina Tremblay, HG Founder, Editor & Manager
