Student Interview
Chapter 15
Here at HiH, there are so many students. It is very important for students to get their voices out there and heard. When you notice something that no one else notices, you want to brag about it, right (It's okay, I think we're all guilty of it)? And when you want to protest something, you want others to listen. So it's really important that all the students here get to share their opinions on lots of different HP related things.
Every issue, this section will come up. It is where we ask a HP related question and ask YOU GUYS what you think!

So, without further ado, let's get started!
Today's question was "Dumbledore's decision to leave Harry at the Dursley's doorstep, and how you think it significantly changed the series."

"I think that it was quite a good decision because I really liked that part of the Harry Potter series in the book. I have not seen the movies, but the fact that he's left there was brilliant for the storyline because at the beginning he hated it there, and having to go back expresses how much he misses Ron and Hermione, so yeah, it's a good decision for the storyline."
Isabella Lopez (1st year Ravenclaw)

"Um... It was not right... but I mean that was his only family. Dumbledore knew how they would treat Harry, but he had no choice... And yes, the series would have changed a bit, like the part where he meets Hagrid and the way they treated him showed how Harry wanted to leave but couldn't."
Alice (1st year Ravenclaw)

"I believe the choice to leave Harry at the Dursley's doorstep was indeed a smart choice! Firstly, Harry should've known that he at least had some type of family. It's important to understand at least in the slightest situation, or he would've grown up believing he had no loving parents. Secondly, as I think was brought up during the book and series, Harry wouldn't be able to handle the fame from his circumstance. Growing up with cameras, newspapers, and constant interviews would've resulted, mind I say, in a Malfoy viewpoint!"
Salem Melina (1st year Slytherin)

"From my point of view, if Dumbledore left Harry with a wizard family, who's to say he would have been safe? At that point, we believed Sirius Black, the best friend of James and Lily Potter, betrayed them. If we couldn't trust Sirius, the definition of loyalty and brotherhood, who could we trust? And, yes, the Dursleys were grossly abusive, but Harry growing up in an environment that didn't recognize him as The Boy Who Lived gave him the opportunity to grow as the humble, kind, and brave person we know, all of which played an important role in the final battle with Voldemort. So while I wish there were better alternatives to Harry's upbringing - whether it be a Wizarding family or a Muggle foster care system and the like - the Dursleys were ultimately the safest one at a time of panic and uncertainty."
So there you have it, folks! Thank you so much to our wonderful answerers and their input. A reminder: If you would like to be one of these people, please don't hesitate to contact me, whether on my wall or messages, here: https://www.hogwartsishere.com/1032268/
