Wizard Women's Fashion Story of the Month

Palila Inthavong, the renowned muggle stylist and fashion journalist from Laos, has recently opened her first store 'Cold November Rain' in Diagon Alley, where she is selling her own range of designer Spring bags. In her products, she has included all the latest charms to make sure that there is a handmade feel with a structured market tote that embodies the ease of spring style with an elegant twist!

Speaking to Inthavong at the opening of her store, she happily laughed and said; “I really cannot believe it! Ever since I could walk I’ve wanted to open my own fashion store, and here I am! I am honestly so elated.”

After a wonderful walk around the store - definitely not without trying on an awful lot of bags and even purchasing one of my own - I couldn’t leave without enquiring about the name of the store. It is a reference taken from the name of the official album 'Use Your Illusion I' by Guns n' Roses', an incredibly popular muggle rock band in the 1980s. With a smile, Inthavong told me; “Ah, the name; everyone asks about the name. I like to think of it as my way of making it known that all those who interact with the muggle world are welcome in my store. I mean, it’s definitely not a done thing these days to only allow purebloods into stores, but the prejudice still hasn’t completely gone away. Speaking as someone who was raised by muggles, I know what it’s like. I want all those with connections to the muggle world to have something that only they understand for once if you get what I’m saying.”

So a wonderful store, with a name with beautiful symbolism. For any of you needing to purchase a new pair of stylish, yet practical Spring bags, I would definitely recommend 'Cold November Rain' by Palila Inthavong in south Diagon Alley!

Jeanne Lanvin

One of the earliest female entrepreneurs in fashion, Jeanne Lanvin, opened a millinery house in 1889. Later inspired by her daughter, Marguerite Marie-Blanche di Pietro, Lanvin began creating lavish dresses for little girls using delicate silks and gorgeous embroidery. Lanvin's matching childrenswear and adult ensembles flew off the shelves, and her department store strategy was ahead of her time - by the 1920s, her line expanded into sportswear, furs, home décor, lingerie, menswear, swimwear and fragrance.
