Chapter 1
Quidditch World Cup International Match: Wales V.S Russia
Hi, everybody! I'm reporting live from the field of this exciting match just seconds after Russia scored an exciting win!
The Russian team consists of Ilya Turgenev (The seeker), Taisiya Lebedev, Eriks Ivanov and Inga Smirnov (The chasers), Sacha Preobrazhensky and Sonya Preobrazhensky (The twin beaters), and Adrian Yahontov (The keeper).
The Welsh team consists of Efa Jones (The seeker), Aeron Williams, Pem Davies and Padrig Thomas (The chasers), Sarf Evans and Gavin Roberts (The beaters), and Megan Hughes (The keeper).
Unfortunately for Wales and its supporters, the Preobrazhensky beater twins absolutely killed the Welsh chasers, and the Welsh beaters Evans and Roberts simply couldn't keep up. The two goalkeepers were both excellent, but Hughes was just that little bit better. She made sure that any time the Quaffle came in for her, she would block it, and only let it in twice! Hughes, you did an excellent job.
On the other hand, Yahontov was having trouble. He was recovering from a knee injury when his team was competing. Despite the fact that many people told him not to participate, he was sure that he was ready. This was proven incorrect when he allowed the Welsh team to score a total of 9 goals (90 points). And, just in case you were worried, he is now recovering and ensuring that he is at full health by the time he plays again.
Turgenev took the snitch in the nick of time; any longer and Jones would have grabbed the snitch and the trophy. The Russian team acted as a unit and followed their captain, Lebedev's, lead. Though they were working in perfect unity, Jones saw the snitch and rushed out to get it, but Turgenev got it first.
Both of them benefited a lot from the Russian team's final score of 170-90. And it seems that Russian team Captain Lebedev has something to say that our interpreter will understand.
English: "It was a fantastic match for us, and we hope it proved to all that we are in it to win it!"
Russian: "Для нас это был фантастический матч, и мы надеемся, что он доказал всем, что мы в нем участвуем, чтобы выиграть!"
Captain Hughes of the Welsh team would like to speak a few words as well.
"We didn't play our best, but we gave it our all, and that's all that counts. We've never struck back as fiercely as we did today, showing that Russia is a genuinely outstanding team."
After what seems to be hugs all over for both sides and a hospital rush for Yahontov, we have our trophy being presented. Russia, we congratulate you!
