The train pulled to a stop and me and Tom stood and got our bags down from the racks just as professor Mcgonagoll came in.

"Ah your still here I see follow me"She said and me and Tom exchanged a glance but followed her out of the train and onto the platform where a bunch of other kids walked out of the train themselves as we walked over to the black lake and got into boats with a few other children who sat behind me and Tom.Everyone was in awe as we approached the castle it looked rather cozy the rooms which were lit up did anyway but the dark rooms looked sinister.The boat pulled to a stop and I grabbed my bag and stepped out the boat witnessing a girl who nearly fell in the water as the boat moved from underneath her feet.

I followed the crowd alongside Tom inside the castle and up the stairs where Professor Mcgonangoll pushed through the crowd of children and up to the top of the stairs silencing us.

"Welcome to Hogwarts,now in a few moments you will pass through these doors to join your classmates but before you take your seats you must be sorted into your houses.There is Gryffindor,Hufflepuff,Ravenclaw and Slytherin.Now while you are here your house will be like your family your triumphs will earn you points and rule breaking and you will lose points at the end of the year the house with the most points is awarded the house cup.The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily"Professor Mcgonagoll explained and turned round to lead us through the doors and into the great hall where all the older students were looking at us curiously.

"Now when I call your name I shall place the sorting hat on your head and you will be sorted into your houses."

"Clara Pevensie"Mcgonagoll called out and I exchanged a worried look with Tom who gave me a reassuring smile as I passed through the children and up the steps to Professor Mcgonagoll who stood expectantly with the hat in her hand.I sat on the stool and professor Mcgonagoll stepped away after placing the hat on my head.

"Hmm right ok,Slytherin!"The sorting hat called out and my eyes flicked from Tom who was beaming to the joyful students of Slytherin.I hopped off the stool and went to join the Slytherins who were happy and welcomed me.UI sat down on the bench and looked to see who would be next.

"Abraxas Malfoy"Proffesor Mcgonagoll called out and the hall fell quiet.Abraxas walked up the steps and sat on the stool as the sorting hat was placed onto his head.

"Slytherin!"The sorting hat called out without even needing to think about it and the hat was removed and Abraxas came over to the Slytherin table who were cheering and clapping while the other houses looked over at us in disgust.

"Penelope Fudge"Professor Mcgonagoll called out and some people snickered at the name but I felt sorry for her.

"Slytherin!"The sorting hat called out and Penelope ran over to our table as the Slytherins cheered.

"Tom Riddle"Toms name was called out but unlike me he had no hesitation and walked confidently up to the stool sitting on it and waiting for the sorting hats answer as it was placed over his head.

"Slytherin!"The hat called out and I cheered and clapped as Tom came and sat opposite me on the Slytherin table.Throughout the sorting several more had been placed into Slytherin and others into the other houses.The headmaster Professor Dippet stood and everyone silenced as he stepped in front of the podium.

"I would just like to say before you retire to your dormitory's that I hope the best for all of you this year and the many years to come"Professor Dippet said and everyone clapped as he sat down before the prefects gathered us first years up and led us out of the great hall with stomachs full of food from the feast which is the nicest food me and Tom have probably had.

"Goodnight Tom"I said hugging him as we went different ways in the Slytherin common room.

"Goodnight Clara"Tom replied and smiled down at me I was a few inches smaller than him but we were both pretty tall for our age.I gave Tom one last smile before I turned the corner up the spiral stairs to my dormitory hoping that I would manage to get some sleep.
