The Women In Green.
Chapter 6
The last week had flown by and it was now Monday the 21st of September.I swung myself out of bed getting changed from my white nightgown into my new Hogwarts robes which had been sent to me in the post over the weekend and slipped on some black school shoes before quickly brushing my hair and practically running down the staircase to get breakfast in the dining hall.Everyone like always went silent when I entered and began to whisper things and I thought that today would be the day that things would work out with Tom but he wasn't here so I quickly sat down on the bench eating my slop and drinking some milk before walking back up to my room.
I saw Tom in the hallway and was going to say hi to him but he looked at me his eyes meeting mine as I saw Mrs Cole was behind him urging him to keep walking on as she eyed me.I stopped and took a deep breath as they walked further down the hallway.
"Don't forget Tom its today"I said knowing that he would know what I meant,he turned his head round looking happy that I had said something smiled and then continued walking towards Mrs Cole's office.I walked into my room safely closing the door I didn't want another run in with Lily Partridge,I fell back onto the bed with my book in my hand but grew tired so fell asleep.I was awoken by frantic shaking.
"Clara!"Someone said."Clara wake up"The voice came again and so I opened my eyes and it was only until I was no longer half asleep that I saw Tom in front of me.I smiled and sprung from the bed wrapping my arms around him pulling him into a hug as he did the same.
"I am glad you are so pleased to see me"Tom said into my hair I could hear the smile on his lips and that made me smile Tom really was just misunderstood.
"Is it time to go?"I said pulling away from him and he nodded.
"Have you packed everything Tom asked and I nodded taking out my packed case from under the bed and Tom cocked an eyebrow at me.
"Well you can never be prepared enough"I said and pulled out the handle.
"Right are we going to take this stuff downstairs?"I said to Tom as he got his things from his room and we both closed our doors at the same time making the hallway darker as there was no light that came from the rooms.Tom nodded and we walked down the stairs with our suitcases filled to the brim with clothes, books and uniform.Me and Tom timidly walked into the hallway where the orphanage accepted visitors it looked a lot more decorated than the rest of the orphanage.Just as me and Tom pulled to a stop by the desk where Martha was busy doing some paperwork a lady walked in dressed in a green hat and dress which flowed behind her along the floor, she looked beautiful but Martha didn't take any notice of the women who had just entered and carried on with her paperwork.
"Hmhm"The women in green made a noise to try and get Martha's attention but it did not work so she tried again another two times before she managed to gain Martha's full attention and I had to bite the inside of my cheek to stop myself from laughing as she looked timidly up to the women in green.
"Ah are you here for these two?"Martha asked and the women glanced at me and Tom who exchanged a look ourselves with each other as the two women began to have a conversation about paperwork and what not but I zoned out for a while until the women said for us to follow her and we did for the first time walking out into the cobbled street just outside the orphanage and I took Toms hand this had been the first time he had ever left the orphanage for more than a day and he must feel pretty excited as well as scared.Tom looked down at our conjoined hands and flashed a smile his black eyes twinkling under the grey sky.
"I am professor Mcgonagoll and I am a teacher at Hogwarts there are a few rules you must know before we leave to catch the train"Professor Mcgonagoll led us into a dark alleyway which frightened me a little and I think Tom sensed this because he squeezed my hand and that comforted me making the dark seem a little less frightening,as much as I didn't like to admit it to anyone else I had slowly admitted it to myself that I was afraid of the dark and what hid in the shadows.
"Rule number one you do not RUN in the corridors or around the school grounds otherwise there will be a detention,Rule number two NEVER answer back to your teacher or there will be a detention.Rule number three do not chew gum in class or it will be a detention.Rule number four NEVER tell muggle borns of magic and NEVER use magic outside of school is that understood?"Professor Mcgonagoll asked us her eyes boring into mine and Toms like she was trying to read our minds.
"Yes Mrs Mcgonagoll"Me and Tom chorused.
"Now take my hands the both of you and whatever you do do not let go or you will get splinched oh and you may feel a bit wheezy as its your first time"She explained holding her hands out either side of her for us to take hold of.
"First time what?"I asked confused but taking professor Mcgonagolls hand non the less.
"You'll see"She replied shortly before we went flying everything around us moving at the speed of light until we arrived at the train station 9 and 3 quarters where Professor Mcgonagoll let go of me and Toms hands and led us to the train and into a empty compartment which had non other than me and Tom in it.
"Stay here when the train stops I will come back here to collect you"Professor Mcgonagoll explained before leaving me and Tom alone to put our bags up onto the baggage compartments which even though me and Tom were tall was still hard to reach so we had to use the chairs to climb up and put them onto the racks.Once I got off the chair and stepped onto the floor I looked outside to see other kids our age also boarding the train with their parents kissing them goodbye their eyes flooded with tears and I wondered if my parents had lived then maybe my life would be different but then I would never have met Tom.
