Chapter 4
"6 o clock!" The sound of a banging on my door woke me up it was Martha she was new here and was almost always helping out with the outbreak of chicken pox.I rubbed my eyes pushing my bed covers away from me as I stepped out of my warm bed and onto the cold stone floor,I brushed my hair untangling the mess my hair had become until it formed into brown waves, I kept brushing until I was happy with how my hair looked and walked over to the cupboard where I slipped on my school grey dress, white polo shirt, and cardigan school uniform and slipped on my charcoal black shoes tying up the black laces.I looked in the mirror one last time and picked up a black bow headband placing it on my head just a knock came to my door.I walked over to it and grabbed the handle twisting it and pulling the door towards me and it was no surprise who stood just outside.
"Hello Tom"I said and smiled as I walked out and closed the door behind me walking down the steps with Tom to breakfast.
"Tom how do you always know when I am ready to leave?"I said and looked to Tom who shrugged.
"Intuition"Tom replied as he opened the door for me and we entered the dining room where over 30 kids turned silent to us muttering and whispering things as we walked down to our seats at the other end of the oak table.I grabbed a bowl of slop and began to gulp it down but stopped when a owl came flying in over the table as people gasped and landed gracefully in front of us with two letters in its mouth,as soon as I got the letters from the owl it flew away back out the window.I gave Tom his and opened my letter.
'Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry writes to Miss Clara Jean Pevensie to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts and that we will have someone pick you up on Monday 21st September to get any necessary books and equipment..'I read to myself in my head
"September 21st that means that we only have one week until we have to leave"I said to Tom turning round to him and he opened his mouth to say something but an angry looking Mrs Cole walked in and me and Tom hid our letters as she silenced the children sat around the long table.
"Tom Riddle!"She shouted down the room to Tom.
"Yes?"Tom asked.
"Come to my office NOW!"Mrs Cole hissed and Tom who did not look afraid smirked and handed me his Hogwarts letter in case Mrs Cole found it and ripped it to shreds.
"I will see you later"I whispered to Tom as he got up from the wooden bench and walked along the stone floor. He turned round to me and gave me a quick nod before continuing to walk as he followed Mrs Cole steadily out of the room where everyone was silent and after they left everyone began to whisper among themselves about why Tom had been sent to Mrs Cole's office.
"Hes probably going to get a beating, serves him right too he's evil he is"I overheard someone say and I put my spoon down with a clatter and everyone turned to me.
"Listen to me when I say this Tom is not evil he is just misunderstood and I doubt any of you know him well enough to know that he can be very sweet and kind but of course non of you give him the chance to do that you just judge him and immediate agree that he is some evil serial killer so before you ask me what that is I will tell you what I know if you ever see anything think of it from Toms point of view he sticks up for himself not because he wants to but because he has to now if you had been a lot more welcoming then maybe he wouldn't have to"I said standing up and storming out of the dining hall leaving everyone in silence.
