Joann and Karla walked into the Charms classroom arm in arm. They had become instant the following week and were disscussing the proper method of performing the "Swish and Flick" of the wand.

"I think a loose wrist is going to gain the best flicking motion, like this." Karla lifted her wand in hand and demonstrated the method.

"I don't know." Said Joann 'I perfer to have more control ya know. More like this." She demonstrated as they made their way to the font of the empty class.

Slowly other made their way into he classroom talking loudly.

As the students found their seats the Professor Quilmane made his way to the front of the lass greeting a few students in the process.

The proffessor stood silently in the front of he class as a last second student ran into the class and hid his head as he ound a seat in the back of the class.

"Now that we are all here lets begin." Professor Quilmane said "Let’s begin by discussing your magical ability. No-one knows for sure where it comes from..."

The lesson went on for a few hours until he told the class it was time for some practice.

"First off I would like to evaluate everyone on Lumos and Nox (if you have figure it out) before I will let you try our new spell today. I will come and evaluate you each in groups of two."

Slowly Professor Quilmane made his way around the room. Most people were able to graduate onto the next spell, only a few were unable to emit a a soft glow from Lumos. Joann and Karla were able to to both spells and received 5 points for Ravenclaw. 

"Alright class. Those of you who did not practice, you know who you are, please practice Lumos until it is satisfactory, then come to me so I can reevaluate you. The rest of you, today I would like you to practice Wingardium Leviosa, the Levitation Charm. The wand movement are like so..."

The professor demonstrated the wand movement to the class three times. "Now everyone follow after me." The class followed without the incantation."Good!"

With a flick of his wand cotton balls appeared on each desk. "I would like you to practice n these cotton balls. When you feel you have practice enough for the day you are free to keep the cotton ball and leave. Please begin!"

Joann grabbed her wand and sat up straight. She had already practiced this spell with Karla in the common room and had been able levitate a pillow off the couch. She looked over at Karla and met her gaze. "Piece of cake." she whispered causing a small smile to play across Karla's mouth.

"Wing-GAR-dee-um levi-O-sa" Joann said with a swish and flick of her wand. The cotton ball hovered a few inches off the table and slowly lowered as she lowered her wand. Beside her Karla had done the same thing. 

"Great job girls. I see you have practiced. Why don't you two practice with some heavier object and tell me how it goes during out next class, your dismissed if you are done practicing." said Professor Quilmane with a smile.

Joann and Karla gathered their supplies and books, linked arms and left the classroom together.
