Why???
Chapter 2
“I DON’T KNOW WHY YOUR PARENTS STILL SEND YOU HERE”.
At this stage I feel awkward, but it’s a very good point I have no idea but we can break this down category by category. There were people whose families were associated with Death Eaters. This mainly consisted of people that were on the Slytherin table so we are looking at the Malfoys, Crabbe, Goyle, Zabini. In fact, I think you can eliminate half of the Slytherin students at this point. So, the answer would be they send them because, what other choice do they have? They don’t want to offend the Dark Lord. For fear of getting punished if he does truly come back.
On the other end of the spectrum, we have the muggle-born students, separated into the other 3 houses. By this I mean that these are people that do not necessarily know or understand what is going on in the wizarding world but know that bad things happen. Unfortunately, all they can do is trust in the information provided to them by their children as to the extent of it and make a decision based on that. As someone that has not been entirely honest with family members in the past, I know that it is easy to lie to them and I can only imagine what stories they might have come up with. So, let us put them down to being ignorant.
I would say that nearly everyone in the school was related to a muggle. There are very few Pure pure-blood families at all. Those that were, were actually Death Eaters anyway. Those that weren’t, were blood traitors. So, this no separates our students into 2 further categories. Firstly, the blood traitors such as the Weasleys. Personally, I don’t think of them in that way but there are many that do. They would have wanted to keep their children in school as long as they could and make sure that they received the best education possible. For Bill, Charlie and Percy this was no problem, Fred and George chose a different path, and Ron and Ginny made it to OWL level without too many problems.
Lastly, we have the half-bloods, the people like me. We are the ones related to muggles and to be honest our families really should know better. I can’t speak for the others, but I was sent because, my uncle was sitting in the seats in front of me and my father was the one you were talking about. Harry lived with muggles who had no idea what was going on and frankly wouldn’t have known any what he needed to beat Voldemort if he hadn’t learnt it at school. My point I guess is that we are sent because need to learn to control our magic. And many of us, including Harry and myself were thought to be orphans. By the end of the 1st wizarding war of living with another member of family such as Neville who lived with his grandmother.
