Lesson Four: Words & Their Power Study Guide

In 1050 BCE, the Phoenician Alphabet was created. The Greek, Latin, & English alphabets used symbols. In Latin, V was a vowel & a speech sound. Incantations usually have one or two words. If you pronounce the incantation wrong, it will alter the spell & your magic. It may bang, backfire, or cause explosions.
The Fire-Making Charm
Incantation: Incendio (in-SEN-dee-oh)
Wand Movement: Curved flick up & down
Willpower/Concentration: Low to very high
The Locomotion Charm
Incantation: Locomotor (LOH-koh-moh-tor)
Wand Movement: A full circle with an upward flick, then point to the object
Willpower: Moderate to very high
Concentration: Minimal
Fun Facts
⊱ Loco translates to place or location, whereas motor translates to move in Latin. Together, it translates to move to a place.
⊱ This alphabet did not have vowels so the person reading would have had to plug in the vowels mentally.
⊱ The spell for the Hover Charm is Levioso; Levi stands for light of weight.
⊱ U was only a speech sound.
