Back then, magic was used with no attempt of concealment. Magical people in ancient Greece & ancient Egypt were seen as highly respected people. They protected tombs by magical concealment. Witches & wizards left Muggle communities in 1000 CE. The government was accountable for keeping magic a secret from Muggles, as well as magical animals & plants. Back then, magical people could not control their magic very well. Some witches & wizards could somewhat control their magic, but most could not; causing mayhem & chaos. Those that caused chaos was even mentioned in Muggle mythology.
