When We Arrive
Chapter 3
Surprisingly the girls weren't at the hotel yet when we arrived, so we checked in and rented 5 rooms. One for every pair since there were 2 beds in a room. We planned that me and Jessica will share a room, Katie and Molly will share, Zac and Carson will share, Allen and Kadin will share, and Jack and Lily will share a room, since they were a couple. We all brought our stuff into our rooms and we all split up as we waited for the girls to arrive. Zac and Allen went to the gym, Carson said he was just going to be in his room, I went to go wait outside for the girls, and Kadin said he'll come with me.
We just sit on the bench outside waiting. It was a sunny day with a slight breeze. I get cold easily and even the slightest breeze will make me shiver. Everybody in my friend group sometimes like to joke that when I grow up I'll live in the hottest place ever and still be cold. I shiver as we wait outside.
"hey Liv are you sure that you are ok?" Kadin asked, turning to face me.
"yeah of course. why?" I said trying to avoid eye contact because I knew that I would be weak staring at his dark brown eyes.
"I don't know," he said, running his fingers through his curly dark hair.
I shivered as a breeze brushed me.
"Are you seriously cold? It's warm outside." he said laughing.
"You know I get cold easily," I said smiling.
"Then why'd you want to come out here to wait for everyone else?" he said with a soft smile.
"For your information I just really need to talk to Kate" I said trying to bundle up in my sweater.
"Here" he said as he took off his sweater and handed it to me. "Wear mine. It's a little bit warmer."
I take off my favorite blue hoodie and put on his gray sweater. He was right, it was warm as though he was holding me closely. I could just imagine him holding me.
"Thanks," I said.
After a few minutes of silence, I was bundling up in Kadin's sweater when Kadin broke the silence.
"You know you can tell me?" he said turning to me once again.
"huh"
"You said you needed to talk to Kate"
"oh yeah"
"Kate isn't the only person in the group that you can talk to"
"well.... it wasn't a headache...in the car..."
"oh.. is that what you were going to tell Kate?"
"yeah"
"well then if it wasn't a headache then what was it?"
"a....nightmare... a really bad nightmare" I said, hiding my face so that he couldn't see that I was embarrassed.
"about what?"
"......it was about.." but before I could finish we saw Molly's black 2020 Toyota Highlander (different color that Allen's)
They all got out of the car and I walked to meet them, not wanting to tell Kadin about my past and too scared to do it. I helped them get their stuff so that I can tell them what their room numbers were and who was staying with who. We walked to the sidewalk and stopped at the bench where Kadin still sat.
"Go ahead guys and I'll bring all your stuff up to your room so you can get settled into the rooms." I said.
"I'll help you Liv," Kadin said, still sitting on the bench.
Allen and Zac, who must have just finished in the gym, came to the front desk to see what time the dinner buffet will be open and closed at. They saw us and walked toward us after getting the information. Kadin got up and helped me bring in the luggage. He stopped me behind everyone by grabbing my hand. I looked back at him and could see hurt in his eyes as he tried covering it up.
"It's ok that you don't want to tell me but at least tell someone. You shouldn't hide yourself from others, especially your friends."
"Your right... How about we talk later though okay?" I said looking in his eyes. I would have drowned in his eyes but I pull away to not let myself escape.
"ok" he said as we carried everyone's luggage.
