Just Stay Weak
Chapter 22
Kadin pulled me through the crowd and as we finally got outside were we weren't being bumped by random people shoving their way across the room. Being crowded by those people all trying to get their voice heard, kind of reminded me of my past. Though my past was much worse, I felt like the shouting and the pushing was as close as you could get to my past except that nobody gets badly injured or abused. I sighed and held Kadin's hand firmly still even though we were out of the crowd.
Kadin glanced over at me as we walked a few few blocks west. The cold wind hit my face and I wished I had brought a blanket to cuddle up in. I rubbed my arms to warm up. Kadin then pulled me closer to him. I looked up at him and smiled softly at him. He slightly blushed and rubbed the back of his neck.
Lots of cars passed us as we walked to the park. I didn't think anything of it because it's normal for cars to zoom past but if only I would have known what was about to happen.
We sit on the bench and I lean my head on Kadin's shoulder. He looked down at me and held my hand firmly. I smile at him and he smiles back at me.
"...Liv about what we were talking about at the hotel.... I just..." He trailed off.
I looked at him and waited for him to continue.
"...I didn't think that.... I didn't think that you would understand..." he said and he tried to look away as he trailed off.
I turn his head back so he could look at me. He rubbed the back of his neck.
"Understand what?" I said so that he could continue to let me in.
"Understand the yelling" he said and I could tell that his parents would always fight as well.
"Even if I didn't understand it...you could have still talked to me. I wasn't your girlfriend back then but I was your friend. I'm always here for you." I said and he smiled slightly at me.
"I know." he sighed and stared into my eyes.
If only I had let him in sooner. Maybe I wouldn't have made myself suffer more. Maybe I wouldn't have brought pain onto me if I had opened up more. I sighed and leaned my head onto Kadin's shoulder. He leaned his head onto mine and I smiled, but my smile faded as I thought about something. All of the harsh things in my past had to happen for me to meet Kadin. Why did I have to go through so much pain to get to someone. I push it out of my mind as my phone rings. Kadin leans onto the bench so that I could grab my phone. I don't recognized the number but answer.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Olivia just come home." said a voice through the phone and I stiffen.
Kadin looks at me with a worried expression. He puts his hand onto my shoulder and I calm down a bit. I put the phone on speaker so that Kadin could hear what my not-father-anymore/ever was saying.
"Don't hang up just yet because you might want to hear what I have to say. One of your friends is in danger right now and if you refuse to stay weak, then you might want to say your goodbyes." he said and Kadin froze as well.
"..where are you?..." I asked and I gulped knowing that since I didn't listen to him before someone really will get badly hurt.
"I'm at the empty lot by main street. There is nobody here so nobody else will be able to help your friend" he said and hung up.
My hand was shaking uncontrollably. Kadin grabbed my hand to stop it from shaking. I turn to face him. He pulled out his phone because it started to ring. Allen was calling and Kadin put it on speaker. Allen sounded very worried and I then knew why.
"Kate is gone...a man just took her...I was unconscious and I couldn't....... i couldn't save her..." Allen said through the phone.
I couldn't breath. He took her. That's who he took.
