The Hearing
Chapter 2
MINISTER OF MAGIC: Ladies and Gentlemen, we are he to discuss the case of Miss Delphini Lestrange-Riddle who is currently serving time in Azkaban prison for the abduction of 2 underage wizards Albus Se-verus Potter and Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy and attempting to bring back the Dark Wizard. Voldemort.
This is correct is it not Mrs Weasley?
LOUISA WEASLEY: It is.
MINISTRY OFFICIAL: In that case, please state your full name for the record Mrs Weasley.
LOUISA WEASLEY: Mrs Sarah Louisa Snape-Riddle-Weasley.
MINISTRY OFFICIAL: And your relationship to the… accused?
LOUISA WEASLEY: former guardian and half-sister.
HARRY POTTER: scoffs, getting a jag in his arm from Ginny.
MINISTRY OFFICIAL: So, you too, are… a relation of The Dark Lord?
LOUISA WEASLEY: Looking at Draco… I am. And you tried to bring back the Dark Lord?
DRACO MALFOY: *Draco’s Face looks whiter than ever*
LOUISA WEASLEY: No.
MINISTRY OFFICIAL: I believe we have something Minister.
MINISTER OF MAGIC: Indeed, a small recompense non-the-less. But I don’t think that you are here for no reason.
There is no doubt a reason that the sister of such a Dark Witch would come to the Ministry.
LOUISA WEASLEY: There is. I don’t deny that what she did was a terrible act. Not only did she carry out an act in the
most terrible circumstances but she did it to people of her own family. Weasleys, Malfoys, Grangers and alike.
However, after speaking with her, as I believe perhaps only a sister can I think that what she did was carried out with the best of intentions only to arrive at the most disastrous of results. She took a name such as Diggory because she knew how much it meant to me. She then saw the pain that I and Amos had been through and thought that if she could stop the pain that we had felt all those years ago then perhaps she could make our lives different. Better.
MINISTER OF MAGIC: She attempted to bring back Voldemort!
LOUISA WEASLEY: She wanted to meet her father! Wouldn’t you do that if you had the chance? If you had never met with someone? If you had never known your parents? *looks to Harry* I know I would. I know I’ve thought about it.
MINISTER OF MAGIC: And yet you have never acted on your impulses.
LOUISA WEASLEY: Maybe not. But I also had a very different life. Perhaps Azkaban isn’t the place for her perhaps we need to find another solution.
There was a long pause…
MINISTER OF MAGIC: We will allow a trial Mrs Weasley. However, do not think that this is because of who you are, nor does it determine a favourable outcome.
LOUISA WEASLEY: Thank you Minister.
MINISTER OF MAGIC: You shall be given your trial date later on this month. You may tell your half-sister to prepare. I suggest the better she behaves in Azkaban the better her chances.
Honestly, I don’t know what will happen when she has a trial. But so far so good. I know that I’ve done the best I can. A lot is down to her. What do you think will happen to her? Is she really as bad as they say?
