Birthday Boy
Chapter 1
Happy Birthday to my Uncle Severus.
Born 9th January 1960 in Spinners End, Cokeworth to Tobias Snape and Eileen Prince, the younger brother to Severina Snape he was also a half-blood and went by the name of the half-blood prince. He was excellent at potions and defence against the dark arts and took in his niece when she was only very young. He became both a death eater and a part of the order of the phoenix showing that he was part of both sides of a coin. He never married but had a continued love interest with Gryffindor Lily Evans throughout his time at Hogwarts. If you want to know more about both houses in Cokeworth and Knockturn Alley I suggest you read my books such as "Hate it here" and "Happy House".
Recently It seems that I have spent quite a lot of time talking about relationships, muggle heritage and of course births and deaths. (I’ll get round to the marriages I promise). I think I’m confused by this mainly because we never used to celebrate births. For a long time, I didn’t even know when my birthday was. It was never something we spoke about and was never something that we took pride in. I celebrate that of my children’s birthdays and all of my family but to celebrate that of my uncle seems strange. We never did that.
Some people see the 9th of January as the worst day of the year. Perhaps that is significant. However, Ezra led the return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel after the Babylonian exile and oversaw the building of the second temple. The passing of Ezra also marked the end of the Era of Prophecy.
To be born on the 9th of January means that you are a Capricorn. This indicates that you are sincere, creative, organised and hardworking. On a negative side it also indicates that you are rather impulsive. Their ruling planets are Saturn and Venus and their tarot card is the hermit. Whilst I admit that my uncle was someone that enjoyed his own company, I’m not sure that any other things about this day are true. As usual I am more of a sceptic when it comes down to these things.
So, a note to my Uncle Severus. What can I say, you were the most amazing person that I could ever hope to have in my life. You helped and looked after me, took me in and never questioned anything. I know that I was probably tough to handle at times, and I doubt I was the easiest person to either protect or teach but somehow you did it, with ease and skill. It annoys me when people do not see or understand the brilliant man I knew and it will forever be a toss up between whether I want you back more or whether or whether I want them to see your brilliance and understand your / our reasoning.
Thank you for everything. Lou.
