Introduction
Chapter 1
Wand lore is an elegant and somewhat mysterious subject. The material in this textbook will provide a base from which further study of wand craft can be built. The objectives of the beginning course in wand lore are as follows: (1) to understand the history of wand making; (2) to become familiar with the types of wood, core, etc., and their meanings; (3) to understand the basics of creating a wand; (4) to understand the design of the tailor-made wand; and perhaps most importantly (5) to understand the primary characteristics of the wand as both a tool and an individual.
This text follows the teachings and methods of the Ollivanders - reputably Britain's (some say the world's) finest ever wand crafters. Please note that the chapters are in the order in which the material is meant to be studied, but of course this book can also be used as a reference for your every wand-study need.
