Lucius Malfoy (Biography)
Chapter 4
Lucius Malfoy
Lucius Malfoy is one of Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters. He comes from a noble pureblood family and he considers Muggles and Muggles-borns to be inferior beings. He is the husband of Narcissa, the father of Draco, and the grandfather of Scorpius Malfoy. He was also Dobby's master before he inadvertently released him. He led the Death Eaters in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, but following the dismal failure of this operation, he fell out of favor and his family also suffered. He was defeated by Remus Lupin and sent to Azkaban and was released a year later. During the Battle of Hogwarts, he did not fight and looked for his son. After Lord Voldemort's defeat, Lucius Malfoy, having repented, resumed living in an ordinary way and became a grandfather a few years later.
At first a haughty and proud man, Lucius falls into disgrace after his defeat in the ministry. He loses power in the appreciation of Voldemort's followers and at the same time he loses the trust of the Dark Lord.
“Lucius” comes from Latin and means “bright, intelligent”.
"Malfoy" is a derivative of Old French "mal faith" which means "bad faith".
