A Noise In The Night
Chapter 4
After a delicious meal that Mrs Weasley had made, Adelaide, Hermione and Ginny went up to their room, sighing with sleepiness.
"This is a really cool place," said Adelaide, looking around the room. "Especially this room."
"Thanks!" said Ginny brightly. "This is my room, and you'll be sleeping there." She pointed at a comfy looking mattress on the ground. "Is that okay?"
"That's fine!" said Adelaide. "Absolutely fine." She flopped onto the mattress, yawning.
After getting into pajamas, brushing teeth, Adelaide finally crawled into the blankets of her mattress.
"See you in the morning!" said Ginny and turned the light off. Adelaide heard Hermione crawl into her blankets, then there was silence.

Adelaide woke up in the night. She had heard a noise. And there was voices. Then she heard a door shut. She looked at her watch and saw that it was 4:00 in the morning. Glancing at Ginny and Hermione, who were fast asleep, she climbed out of her covers and tiptoed across the floor, but as she reached the door, she banged her little toe on the bedside table. She fell back onto the bed, clutching her toe and bit her tongue, which made her tongue hurt, so she was in a bad situation now.
With much difficulty, she managed to get up again, wincing on her sore toe, and pulled open the door silently.
She froze, listening for any noise, but there was still silence. So she started tiptoe downstairs but the problem was, was that the stairs were creaky. CREAKKK, the stairs went. Adelaide froze again. Then she went down the stairs quickly, so the stairs wouldn't have a chance to creak.
Then Adelaide saw Charlie. She darted behind a curtain, and luckily Charlie hadn't seen her. Then she realized that he was going to apparate. Where was he going to apparate? Adelaide tried to think, and then she remembered that Charlie was going to go to the dragons in the early morning. That was what he had said, and Adelaide had heard him clearly. And Adelaide decided that she wanted to come with him. Anyhow, Charlie was going to come back here, so Mrs Weasley or the others wouldn't notice. They would probably still be asleep when he came back!
She jumped into the sack that Charlie was going to take with him, and it was huge. She could fit in there comfortably. But there were other things in there, like books and textbooks, and containers with food in them (probably for the dragons), thought Adelaide, and a pencil and dragon hide gloves, and his wand. Adelaide wanted to touch the wand, but she had never handled a wand, so she thought that she shouldn't.
She felt the sack being lifted up and hoped that Charlie wouldn't look in to see why it was so heavy. Thankfully, he didn't.
And then Charlie apparated.
It was different in a sack- when being apparated. In a sack. She was being tumbled upside down, and all the other things in the sack were too so she got hit once or twice on the head by a book.
Soon the tumbling stopped and Adelaide felt Charlie lower the sack onto the ground. There were foot-steps, then silence.
Adelaide waited for a few minutes, for if Charlie saw her he would not be pleased. Then she poked her head out of the sack, feeling dizzy. Then she climbed right out of the sack, shivering. It was very chilly, and she was only wearing her pajamas. She felt very stupid now. Why hadn't she just changed into her clothes? Angry and frustrated, she looked around. They were in a forest. Then Adelaide was afraid. Which direction had Charlie gone. But Adelaide tried to calm herself. Charlie, she was sure, would come back to get his sack. He wouldn't just leave it here - his stuff was in there.
Soon enough, Adelaide heard returning footsteps and she darted behind a tree. Charlie appeared, peered into it, (Adelaide was very thankful that she had not hid in the sack again) slung it over his shoulder and walked off. Adelaide silently followed him.
They walked for a while. Adelaide now wished she had not come here with Charlie. But she really wanted to see a dragon - a real dragon. Despite the anxiousness, she couldn't help not being excited.
Then Charlie stopped walking. Again Adelaide hid behind a tree. There was a sound like someone clearing their throat, and Charlie whipped around to see a man in grey, with a spotted tie. Adelaide saw the man too.
"Ah, Lengman, nice to see you again," said Charlie softly.
"I presume you have come to help with the dragon? The escaped dragon?" asked the man, who was Lengman.
"Yes, of course," said Charlie.
"Well, come," said Lengman and with a smile he walked right and Charlie cautiously followed him.
Adelaide was shivering violently now, she was furious at herself for coming. She stifled a sneeze, but she felt like she needed to sneeze again. She held her nose, but - ACHOO! She had sneezed.
Charlie and Lengman whipped around, raising their wands.
"What was that?" said Lengman sharply.
"Well I don't know!" said Charlie, annoyed. He glared at Lengman. Obviously he didn't like Lengman.
"It was probably just a bird," said Lengman smugly, and started to walk again.
"He was the first one that was scared in the first place," said Charlie under his breath, and he added scornfully, "A bird!"
Adelaide had been holding her breath. She followed them again, darting from tree to tree, and not making a noise.
They walked for a while more, and finally came to the right side of the forest, to the light, and the space! Adelaide gasped when she saw... the castle. It was a huge one - like HUGE.
Could this be... Hogwarts? thought Adelaide, gasping. After all, Harry HAD said that Hogwarts was really huge and that... yes! There were students - just by the lake and Adelaide almost shrieked with delight. This was Hogwarts!
