Brief Introduction

Chapter 1

The main term "Arithmancy" tracks its origins down to the two greek words arithmos (meaning "number") and manteia (meaning "divination") being therefore self-explanatory: it is Divination by numbers, by their identification, by their analysis, by their reading. However, in recent years Arithmancy has reached a point in which it encompasses all magical numerology, and we may state that Arithmancers today work with numbers and proportions not only for divination purposes.

When we verify that this practice, which counts on over 2000 years of existence and development, has rarely failed either when it came to predict disasters, to say the truth about someone's personality before even hearing them talk, or to check whether or not a monument was erected according to a specific magical proportion, becoming less vulnerable to damaging spells (and not requiring a powerful spell to do it), we easily conclude that this is a matter of particular interest and utility.

Modern Arithmancers divide Arithmancy according to different areas of analysis and application, which are studied separately.

They are:

Individual or Personal Analysis

Historical Analysis

Natural Analysis

Anatomical Analysis

Artistic Analysis

Magical Performance Analysis

It is important to note that these areas are presented according to their growing complexity. Each one has its own formulas, numerical interpretation and unique application, although they are all connected to the same root that is the Nuclear/Basic Arithmancy, common concepts to all fields of this subject.

About this book:

Numerology is for the significant relevance numbers represent in this field, and the prospective Arithmancer must be prepared to start seeing them everywhere, and in everyone. Grammatica is for the role, less (but) important, letters and other phonetic characters (runes, hieroglyphs) play in the practice.

This book is meant to be a useful and practical guide to this complex art, presenting all tables, charts and illustrations needed to move forward easily in the Arithmancy course.
