Devil's Snare

Chapter 1
The best thing to remember when dealing with Devil’s Snare is that it is a plant that grows in damp and dark areas (usually underground) and therefore hates sunlight. The best spells to use when fighting this plant are wand lighting spells such as “LUMOS” and “LUMOS SOLEM” or a fire lighting charm such as “INCENDIO”. It is commonly a very misunderstood plant because the more you struggle or resist it the more force it is going to use against you as it constricts you, eventually choking the individual that it has chosen as its prey. Those that do not realise, it is simply a case of relaxing your body the best you can in order for it to release you. Devil’s Snare has snake-like tentacles or ropes with spikes on them which make it a tricky plant to manoeuvre if you every end up in its grasp. According to many herbologists it is most likely related to Flitterbloom which is a magical plant of a very similar nature.

I am lucky never to have come across this magical plant however I know that it has been found at the school of Hogwarts and several students and a Professor came in its path. Devil’s Snare is the plant that became Professor Sprouts mystery or trap in the third-floor corridor. I think it was very clever and I’m glad I never came across it.

I found a translation in Hebrew which means Devil or Satan. The text goes more like this:
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil, the satan, which deceiveth the whole world.
It seems very much as though is is talking about the Basilisk and it is definatly a plant of bad things (clue is in the name).
