Who Is There?

Chapter 3
Laying behind the bush was a wolf. It was big and had pitch black fur with tips of red. It looked like something from a fantasy movie. I thought at first that it was sleeping but then I saw it's front right paw curled up in pain. It whimpered softly and let out the same low growl. I stepped nearer and a twig snapped. It went from helpless and hurt to a fierce and powerful wolf. It stood tall and growled loudly at me. My heart beated and I held in my breath. It was about to jump away from me but fell again as it curled it's paw. I moved closer now to look at it.
My hand started to reach out to the wolf and it's head flew up and it growled but that fierce growl turned into a soft whimper.
"shh. it's okay. i'm going to help you", I said softly.
I stopped my hand in air with space between us. I looked sideways, away from the animal. My arm started to hurt from laying in the air. I held my breath and felt the wolf's wet nose sniff my hand. I looked at the wolf. They sniffed my hand and looked at me. I closed my eyes to avoid eye contact. They rubbed their furry head against my arm and I opened my eyes. Their amber eyes stared back at me and I felt the chill of the wind. They whimpered and curled their paw. I moved closer and reached to its paw. I picked it up carefully and slowly and saw five huge and pointy thorns in its paw.
I barely touched one and the wolf howled in pain. I moved my other hand and petted the fur on its paw to calm it. It worked and I slowly grabbed one of the thorns and pulled quickly. I got it out and the wolf only howled in pain for a second then whimpered. I petted its paw again as I reached to pull out the next one. After I got them all out I sat down and backed away from the wolf. I stood up and walked backwards and sat on a fallen branch.
I sighed thinking of how I'm never going to survive in here. I'm a nature person and I would never harm the forest and most of the things in here are probably poisonous. I sat there for a moment doing nothing. The wolf came towards me cautiously and I sat still. It rubbed its head on my knee and I smiled. No matter how dangerous an animal was, I for some reason always had to help them. This animal is different though. I felt the calling of it pulling me closer and when I looked into their eyes I felt controlled by nature.
I'm going crazy. Nature can't control me. Can it? Can nature control the animals as well? Why would nature control me? I'm.....I'm a nobody who doesn't even have a home. I sighed and looked at the wolf. He had a sparkle in his eye and I liked it. It looked like he knew things will work out fine. It might for him but for me....I'll die alone, surrounded by nature, and nobody would even care.
Not even my family would care. They didn't believe me either and chose to believe Frey. The boy who lied about everything and almost got me killed if I hadn't escaped. Some boys just older than me by a year or so, were playing a game in the meadow while I was at the edge of the forest. They thought it would be funny to throw rocks at me. One rock hit me badly on my leg and it bleeded. I looked back at them with a threatening look. Frey backed up and fell backwards. He landed in a mud pond and cut himself just a little bit. He sneered at me and ran to town. He of course came up with this horrible story about how I was throwing rocks at him and I pushed him into the mud pond. Of course it wasn't true but they believed him. He even said I cut myself with a sharp rock to look like the victim.
I sighed. I've been sighing a lot recently. Why was my life like this. I heard a twig snap and turned around quickly. It was just the wolf sniffing around. I laid my head on my knees and closed my eyes. I wasn't going to fall asleep just try to relax and enjoy nature for the little time of life I will be able to live in here. I heard a weird noise like a crack but not a sound from nature. I looked over again to see what the wolf was doing now and what that noise was. I jumped from the seat on the log and held my breath. I was wide awake and alert from what I saw. I stepped back one step as it came closer to me.
