Into The Forest

Chapter 2
I stepped close to the green and never ending forest alone. I wanted to escape from those horrible people who were chasing me. This was the only option. No one would follow me in here because they were too scared of the curse that created the monster that lived in here. To be honest so was I but I had to escape. I could hear their screams and shouts of my name. They knew nothing of the truth and it made me look guilty for running but they wouldn't listen to a young girl like me. They would rather listen to the actual guilty one and would listen to a boy than a girl.

That's how it was. Boy over girl. If a boy said something false they would believe him without a second to think about it but if a girl said something they would get mad at her for speaking and wasting their time with nonsense. They didn't even like the idea of girls being able to learn at schools. All the boys thought it was normal to treat a girl like trash just because nobody would stick up for them or even notice them. They would probably even get mad for girls to stand up for themselves and say it's disrespect to stand up to a man.
They think that the only things girls are good for is to stay home clean and cook. They even say that girls should be glad that men want them to bear their children because without men then the world would die. Women spend nine months of being pregnant and the pain of giving birth is way worse than anything men had to do.
Consequences of talking back to a man, speaking without permission from a man, anything that a man said you did that was wrong, and many more would be locked in a cellar until the man said you learned your lesson or burned if it was that serious like a man told them that a girl stole from him or purposely tripped him to break his arm. It was harsh for a woman. Most of them got used to the harsh life they lived but not all get used to it.
I have spent more than 6 years totaled in my 18 year life in a cellar because of men, but this time, one boy's words made them think that I needed to be burned. Lies was all he said. The only truth that he spoke was his name but all the rest was nonsense.
I ran into the forest and jumped over a big broken branch from one of the giant trees that blocked the sun. As I ran in farther the light from the sun disappeared and the shouts were muffled from distance. I looked back at the path I ran and could barely see a small glowing light that used to be my home town. They wouldn't run after me and would just wait until they hear the scream of pain and terror of me being killed from the beast that hides in here. I would rather be ripped apart than be burned to death because at least I have some peace while dying and I die in my favorite thing... Nature.
I would always ask to stand by the forest to hear the animals singing and the breeze of the wind against the trees. It was calming and I enjoyed being by nature. My town hates it because of a curse that happened many years ago, but before the curse took place, everybody loved nature, until one man, yes a man ruined it all but look how they now get treated.

The Story Of The Curse:
There was a young boy who ventured deep into the forest though warned not to harm any animals or trees in the forest or else he will be cursed. He went father and farther into the huge forest. He sat by a clear blue pond in the forest. The sun shone down on it brightly and made the water sparkle. It was a mesmerizing sight and he loved it. He then saw a large rabbit racing threw the forest. The boy had been hungry for months and years because his family was very poor and he didn't get to eat much food. He thought that maybe if he killed just one rabbit nothing would happen. He ran after the rabbit and saw it sitting still as it ate plants. He waited a moment and plunged at the small animal. He started to strangle it with his hands. It grew still and dead. The young boy smiled at the stillness in the air. Nothing was going to happen to him. He got up and started to walk a path back to the town. He saw many people standing at the edge of the forest and he held the rabbit high. Once they saw the dead rabbit their body grew still and fear ran in their eyes. He was close to getting out of the forest when suddenly plants wrapped around his feet, keeping him from walking out of the forest. He tugged and tugged but he couldn't free himself. The town started to panic. The curse began that very second the rabbit died in his strangling hands. The young boy was now shaking in fear. He yelled for townspeople to help him. They grabbed his arms and pulled but the plants held a firm grip on his ankles. He dropped the rabbit thinking maybe it would let him go if he didn't have it in his hands but he was wrong. The plants grew thorny vines rapidly quick and the thorns dug into his ankles. Blood dripped onto the vines and ground. The townspeople gasped at the thorns and stepped back. They ran home terrified that if they stood there longer vines would grab at their ankle. So there the boy struggled for many hours alone with no help from the townspeople as they ignored his cries and screams. The young boy stayed in that same spot until night. People heard his screams as a monster took him into the forest. When they looked the next morning, he was gone but they saw a path that had been created from the young boy's legs being dragged. On the path many saw little drops of blood. They were petrified at what happened and grew scared of the forest and nature. Time went on but the townspeople made sure that everybody knew what had happened. Everybody who lived in Forest's Edge stayed away from the forest.

Well everyone except me. I was the only one who went to the very edge of the forest. Everyone thought I was crazy to go near the forest but I had this weird feeling that something was calling me there. I could hear my name when the wind brushes past the many tall trees. I could feel something pulling me inch by inch closer to the separation from the town's dried grass and the forest's bright green grass. So close to the edge that I could just smell the flowers blooming.

I kept running but stopped in my tracks. I walked toward the pond. The exact same pond that was in the story, but instead of being a clear blue color it was a disgusting and murky green. In the story the trees parted to make a small opening for the sun to shine down and make the water sparkle, but now the trees barely showed any light at all and there definitely was no sparkle in the water. Was the story a little exaggerated? What happened to this place?
I walked and bent down to take a closer look at the water. I plugged my nose as I smelt death in the water. I looked into the murky water and gasped. As soon as I looked into the water, it cleared into the water like in the story of the curse and I could see something else in the water. There was beautiful plants and greens in the reflection and petals of flowers. I didn't know what was going on because when I looked back up I just saw the darkness of the trees and nothing else. I looked back down and again saw the beautiful water again.
I jumped as I heard a low growl coming from the dark forest. I bolted up and walked around to find what made the noise. I was curious because I had never heard the strange sound before when I sat at the edge of the forest. I heard the low growl again and it sounded like it was coming from the leafy, green, and poky bush behind me. I walked around the little pond, towards the thorny bush. It rustled and I jumped, curious but scared. It felt like the same call that called me into the forest, now pulling me closer to the bush. I peeked over the bush and gasped.
