Here's some personal advice to avoid yourself from getting into a backstory mess.
Don't use image dividers. Text dividers are much slimmer and more customizable.
Don't use the same image over and over again.
Don't use items that clash with your theme and try to choose an eye pleasing one.
Don't use overly large images. They may cause your backstory to come out of its space.
