Muggles - Muggle-Born Registration Commission (Part 3) (Informational)
Chapter 5
Muggles - Muggle-Born Registration Commission (Part 3)
The Muggle-Born Registration Commission was set up by the Ministry of Magic when Lord Voldemort took over on August 1st, 1997. The whole goal of this registration was to force all Muggle-born witches/wizards to undergo an interrogation where the Ministry was trying to figure out how they "stole" their magical power from "real" wizards and witches. The thing was, the Ministry at this time was very prejudicial and focused its resources on degradation and imprisonment of Muggle-borns. The head of this Commission was Dolores Umbridge.
The Commission actually forced Muggle-borns to turn themselves in, sending Snatchers against any who tried to avoid them. Snatchers were members of an organisation of bounty hunters formed by Lord Voldemort. The “interviews” that Muggle-borns had to go through were actually were shams, fully intent on sending innocent Muggle-borns to Azkaban, or stripping them of their wands and jobs, leaving them impoverished.
(This is part 2 in the Muggle Series; the next part will be in the next issue)
