Lesson Eight: Australia Study Guide
Chapter 10
Aboriginal Life
Magical aboriginal people lived for seventy-thousand years. Their tribes were arranged based on language. Due to colonists, the tribes decreased in numbers. Overall, two-hundred & fifty language tribes were grouped. The population of these tribes were seventy-five thousand to three-hundred & fifty thousand strong. In each tribe, families, clans, & moieties were also divided, which caused a dichotomy. In moieties, males & females only married with the opposite moiety. One was with magic & the other without. Since their magic was nature based, they could breathe underwater, camouflage with nature when hunting, & stop volcanoes from exploding.
Colonization
In 1700, magical people hid in the first European Muggle colonists to escape from the Industrial Revolution. Due to ethnocentrism, Australia was deemed a no-man's land. However, the Dutch & the British found a great way to populate there. It was then the aboriginals land was taken from them.
Danunda Magical Academy
This academy was designed in a region that was said to have no life. The intrepid group disagreed in 1800; they said it was the best region. Multiple spells for water, weather, animal attacking, & Muggle concealment were used. In 1800, there were more native Australians than immigrants. The Outlying Offices of Magical Australia thought to create their own school. Today, there is an increase for aboriginal exchange programs.
