What is an essay? According to the latest English Dictionary, an Essay is; "A short piece of writing on a particular subject". I would not say this is entirely the case in Hogwarts however, most essays having a minimum of 300 words requirement. So what are the techniques to writing a 100% essay on Herbology, or Potions, or another subject?
