Don't get me wrong, even in person people are dullards but online makes it easy.
Behind the screen they feel no regret and don't care.
They have fun making fun of anyone and everyone because we don't have to look them in the face.
One-on-one interaction is better (despite the fact I'm anti social) because you can confront them then and there.
Internet is JoLlY fUn, but I can't punch the jerk through the screen, though that would be fun.
I'm not saying this is caused by society, but as a society this is what we do.
