The Time Turner (Informational)
Chapter 7
We all know about the Time Turner, it’s the one that Hermione used to get to all of her classes. It was used by Harry Potter save Buckbeak from being killed, but what do we really know about this time turner?
Time-Turners that were issued by the Ministry of Magic had a Hour-Reversal charm that was placed on them. A Hour-Reversal Charm is a charm that could be used to reverse time by one hour, up to a maximum of five hours. The Ministry did not make a lot of time turners, so it made them very hard to replace. During the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, all of the Time-turns were destroyed, and they were not replaced after that. If a students wanted a Time-Turner to take extra classes, they could apply for one, but there was a lot of screening they had to do. There were also a bunch of rules they had to follow, for example not abusing its power and not letting any outsiders know.
Then, the True Time-Turner was created. This type of Time-Turner was created by Theodore Nott around August 2020. At this time, Theodore was working with Lucius Malfoy. Their mission was to save Voldemort from his fate. The first prototype that they made let the time traveler stay five minutes in the past, even though they could go anywhere in the past. Eventually, they created a better one where the traveler could stay in the past along as they wanted. There was also a device used to return to the future. Lucius keep the improved version, which he later passed down to his son, Nott keep the old one.
Soon, Theodore Nott was arrested for having such a powerful device with him. Along with Nott and Malfoy having the true Time-Turners, Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy had one to. When they were found with one, they were very close to being expelled from Hogwarts, but they were banned from all trips to Hogsmeade and had all of their Easter and Christmas plans cancelled. Lucius keep the second Time-Turner because he liked to keep powerful artifacts, but he thought that saving The Dark Lord was a waste of time, so he passed it down to his son Draco Malfoy. Draco used it to save Albus and Scorpius, but he was soon sent to Azkaban for having the True Time-Turner.
