The basilisk, - from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - how could it have survived more than 50 years? Snakes don't usually live that long, and basilisks are snakes, just giant, and they kill and petrify people.
Did Salazar Slytherin cast a spell for it to live longer? Or did Tom Riddle take really good care of it?
