Ferdinand's House
Chapter 5
We soon came to Ferdinand's house. Their house was a little cottage, with a back garden, and there were a LOT of flowers!
"My mother and I grew those," said Ferdinand proudly.
"Cool," I said, but not really realising what I was agreeing to. I was just inspecting the house.
"Come on, let's go inside," said Ferdinand.
I followed Ferdinand inside. A man was sitting on a chair, smoking a pipe, while reading the newspaper at the same time. I could hear someone rattling the pots and pans inside the kitchen, so I guessed that Ferdinand's mum must be in there. Ferdinand smiled reassuringly at me, and murmured, "It's okay. My mum and dad will just think you're my friend."
Ferdinand was right. His father looked up at them over from the top of the newspaper, and he smiled kindly at me. "New friend, eh, Ferdinand?"
"Yes, father," said Ferdinand. "Um, I'm just going to go upstairs with her." Ferdinand led me into his room, flopping onto his bed. "So... this is a wand, then?"
"YES," I said impatiently. "But you're a wizard. So that means -"
"That I can go to Hogwarts," finished Ferdinand happily. "Yeah!"
"So you just need to tell that to your parents. And you also need to go to Diagon Alley to get your stuff."
"That won't be a problem," said Ferdinand. "I just can't wait to get my wand, especially!"
"Yeah, that always was my favourite part. Getting my wand," I said, smiling. "Um, can you show me the letter?"
"Sure," said Ferdinand, jumping up. He shuffled around in a draw for the letter, and finally he saw it, grabbed it, and threw it to me.
I caught it, and scanned the letter. Then I looked at the list. (Down below is what is said to get.)

I gave the list back to Ferdinand and said, "So that's what you need."
"Okkkayyy," said Ferdinand. He, too, scanned the list. He looked up at me. "Um, Sylvia, you just haven't told me one last thing. Why did you - um, leave Hogwarts?"
I stared at him. I did not want to answer his question, so I didn't.
"Um...er," said Ferdinand.
"I just don't want to talk about it, OK?"
"Um, OK, but, just saying, you can tell me, OK?"
