Author's Note
"There is nothing more frightening or more wonderful than the magic of our past." -Katherine Miller (professor of history, author of the book A Quick Look at our Time, extraordinary witch).
A long time this particular writer was having a nice afternoon with Bathilda Bagshot. I said to her, and I swear on Merlin's beard I did, "Bagshot." I paused then and took a sip of tea, "There has got to be something done about the history books. "They are far too simple." She agreed with me but had decided to give up writing after a nasty interview with Rita Skeeter.
This book is dedicated to my old friend in the hopes that I will make her proud, whereever she is.
