Lesson Six: 'Cause I Come from the Land of Lizards Study Guide

Chapter 7

A recent ancestor is the parent of a family of dragons. A dragons' DNA has magical immunity & can lead to discovery of various organisms. A theory suggests that DNA makes magical energy, but a very small amount. In Muggle history, a myth suggests that a knight from Switzerland named Heinrich von Winkelried, killed a dragon. Supposedly, the dragon was murdering cattle & frightened the Wile people. The myth is that once the dragon was murdered, the knight touched the blood & it destroyed him.

In the Wizarding World, witches & wizards know that most parts of a dragon can be used for potion ingredients. Some of the twelve magical uses of dragon blood consists of an anesthetic, a painkiller, a cleaning agent, a disinfecting agent, & sometimes, poison. Dragon heartstrings are used to make certain wands & it is the most powerful of cores. Witches & wizards use dragon claws, dung, horns, hide, liver, & meat for magical uses. Dragon's skin is magic resistant unless it's a stunning spell. Dragon liver is used as antidotes to powerful poisons. Using the Severing Charm will not cut the liver, but does increase the chance of a backfire. In 1709, breeding dragons was illegal at the Warlocks' Convention. Dragon eggs is a Class A Non-Tradeable Material (illegal). Chinese Fireball eggs are common ingredients for fertility & luck potions.
