Lesson Four: The Cure for Boils Study Guide
Chapter 5
This style of the potion is made in pewter cauldrons & uses Celsius temperature.
Estimated Brewing Time (EBT): 44 minutes
Ingredients:
⊱ 750 mL of water
⊱ 6 snake fangs
⊱ 4 horned slugs
⊱ 2 porcupine quills
⊱ 3 measures of Flobberworm mucus
Instructions Part One
1. Add 750 mL of water & keep temperature to 90 degrees Celsius.
2. Add 6 snake fangs & crush it into a fine substance using the pestle.
3. Add 4 measures (tablespoon) into the cauldron.
4. Heat the cauldron to 110 degrees Celsius for 10 seconds. Turn down the heat to 90 degrees Celsius.
5. Stir once clockwise. Potion should be pink.
6. Brew the potion for 22 minutes.
Instructions Part Two
1. Add 4 horned slugs.
2. Take the cauldron off the flame. Failure to do so, the potion will have a bad odor & cause the cauldron to melt.
3. Add 2 porcupine quills & return the heat of 90 degrees Celsius.
4. Stir clockwise 5 times.
5. Brew the potion for 17 minutes.
6. Take the cauldron off the flame. The potion's color should be sky blue. Add 3 measures of Flobberworm & let it thicken for 5 minutes.
7. Stir with a wooden spoon & use a funnel to bottle it for storage.
Usage Notes
Keep away from areas of sensitive skin (eyes or face). Apply topically, never ingest it. If you fail to take the cauldron off the flame before adding the porcupine quills, this potion can cause very painful boils. To store this potion, keep at room temperature for about four years.
