Lesson One: Introduction to Potions Study Guide

Chapter 2

Potions help with migraines, strengthen energy, trigger a body part to inflate, alter the color of your eyes or looks, & supply powerful, or even toxic, impacts. It can take between twenty minutes to even twenty-four hours to make a concoction. Most potions have both magical & non-magical items that are used.

The people who should drink or use potions are magical witches & wizards. If a Muggle were to use a concoction, it may lead to abnormal or fatal conditions. Prior to 1689, where the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy took place, potion making was still a thing. Muggles today have no tolerance due to a long disconnection from all things magic. Muggle bodies adapted to magic at the time, but in today's world, their bodies grew intolerant to magic because it's been so long.

According to Ancient Muggle records, shamans & priests made love potions for Muggles. They made these lustful potions by using non-magical items, which caused a scientific reaction instead of magic. Muggles before 1689 wouldn't have liked being treated special. Some Muggles took advantage of potions to create & sell fake ones for a high amount of money. Muggles who still continue to sell fake potions are called snake oil salesman. The most common fake potion is the Cure-All concoction.
