Hi!! My name is Lila Black. I live in a community of sameness. So that means no color, no emotions, no real family, no choices, and no LOVE. Where I live is called a dwelling and I can't touch anyone outside my imminent family. We have no memories but our own. The memories are kept by the Receiver of Memory the most important person in the community. The Elders keep us in line and make the choices for us. We have morning injections to keep the "stirrings" away. The "stirrings" are dreams of people and that those dreams have rules are broken. I took morning injections until I found out what they were. Now time to start. Let's go back to my dwelling.

Chapter 3
He stars at me before he starts "Lila...I have been skipping my morning injections. For the past month and I feel things I never had before."
I stare at him "You WHAT!!" I yell.
He clamps his hand over my mouth. "Shhh... Lila...I know but you have to do it. Once you get your assignment you have to stop taking the morning injections."
"No," I say. "No. Conner, you have to start taking them you could die if you didn't. Don't you remember younger school? They told us if we didn't we could die. Die Conner."
He shakes his head. "No, you can't Lila. It was a LIE. They lied to us about what it does. Trust me ok Lila please trust me." He begs.
I shake my head to.. what's the word...confused.
"Take me home please," I whisper. "I want to see my family."
"Of course, Lila. But please think about it. Ok?"
"Ok," I say. Even though I want to forget it.
He takes me home in silence. I check my watch and it's 3:30 pm.
"Umm...Conner?"
He looks at me then looks forward. "Yes, Lila."
"What do you feel now are things different?" I ask.
He pauses not sure how to answer. "It's different because I feel things, Lila. I feel things I never had before. Stronger this, more sure of things. Lila, you have to do it, please. For me." He begs again. Knowing that I would agree.
"Ok. I will do it Conner after I know my assignment."
He nods and says no more.
Then it happens again the weird thing. Conner changed again, no his face changed. On the cheeks it changed it was weird. I blinked and stared at his face. It disappeared again right when I blinked. Conner sensed I was starting at him and he tensed up. I wonder why? I let my mind wonder not sure where we are until Conner says we're here.
"Bye," I say. "See you tomorrow."
"See you." He waves before he gets back on the bike. But before he leaves he looks deep into my eyes like he wants to do something. I wonder what he wanted to do.
I knock on the door before opening. When I go in I hear another voice. I see my mom and dad sitting next to the Chief Elder. Ky sees me and waves.
"Hi, Lila." He says.
"Hi, Ky." I say. "Umm...What's going on?"
My mom smiles kindly at me and says. "Come over here Lila, the Chief Elder wants to talk to you about how your doing in school."
I nod and go sit.
The Chief Elder excuses my parents and brother. They walk out of the room.
"Hello, Lila." She says, "I want to take to you about your friend, Conner."
I stare at him "You WHAT!!" I yell.
