The Giver (A Fanfiction)
Hi!! My name is Lila Black. I live in a community of sameness. So that means no color, no emotions, no real family, no choices, and no LOVE. Where I live is called a dwelling and I can't touch anyone outside my imminent family. We have no memories but our own. The memories are kept by the Receiver of Memory the most important person in the community. The Elders keep us in line and make the choices for us. We have morning injections to keep the "stirrings" away. The "stirrings" are dreams of people and that those dreams have rules are broken. I took morning injections until I found out what they were. Now time to start. Let's go back to my dwelling.

~Conner's pov~
I wake up lying next to Lila and my parents hovering over us. "Conner!" My mother says and hugs me. I flinch when she hits my newly wrapped leg.
"What happened?" I ask and my father looks up before looking back at Lila. I look and see her shaky breaths.
"She hasn't improved that much, her system is fighting the medication for some reason. And The Chief Elder brought you here because they found you unconscious on the road.
I nod along and keep looking at Lila. "Will she make it?"
My mother sighs. "We don't know. But we need to go to the hospital to get more supplies. Can you watch her?"
I nod. "Of course."
"Thank you, Conner. We'll be back in 10-20 minutes." Father says and they leave.
I sit up and grab Lila's hand. "Please, please stay with me, Lila. I need you more than you know." But, she doesn't react. I sigh and check her heartbeat. "Steady."
~Lila's pov~
I feel trapped. I feel myself fighting the meds, and feel everyone touching me but I can't move. My body locked down on me and my breathing starts hurting. I want to give up but my family and Conner come to mind. But, Conner doesn't love me. But, I can't leave Ky. I struggle with that thought for what feels like ages until my mind goes blank. Everything goes blank. Am I dead? I think my last thought before everything disappers.
