The Giver (A Fanfiction)
written by (: GONE !!
Hi!! My name is Lila Black. I live in a community of sameness. So that means no color, no emotions, no real family, no choices, and no LOVE. Where I live is called a dwelling and I can't touch anyone outside my imminent family. We have no memories but our own. The memories are kept by the Receiver of Memory the most important person in the community. The Elders keep us in line and make the choices for us. We have morning injections to keep the "stirrings" away. The "stirrings" are dreams of people and that those dreams have rules are broken. I took morning injections until I found out what they were. Now time to start. Let's go back to my dwelling.

Chapter 1
School is out and Thea and I are getting our bikes from the bike rack. I get on my bike and start going to my dwelling with Thea. She turns and looks at me. I look at her then something changes. I blink and it's gone. But she changed, no her shirt changed. I blink again.
Thea looks at me and asks "Are you alright Lila?"
I nod "Yes, I am. Sorry dazed off for a second."
We say no more because it's rude to make people uncomfortable. We break away at the corner 3 blocks from the school.
"Bye," I say. "See you tomorrow."
Thea smiles and waves. "Yeah. See you tomorrow."
I keep going down the road and finally once in the trees I get off my bike. Put it gently on the ground next to my bookbag. Once I put it all down I start to run. I love running but you can't in the community so I have to do it in private. I always take a long way back to the dwelling to do it. I am good at running but I can't because the Elders say it's dangerous and can cause accidents. I sprint back to my bike, catch my breath before going back on my bike. I start heading back to my dwelling before my "parents" get worried. I put my bike on the bike rack. I look at my dwelling before I go in. It's all white, has three rooms, two bathrooms, one medium size living room, a medium-sized kitchen, a dining table with only 4 chairs. WE only have 4 chairs because of one mom, one dad, one sister, one brother. That's all. One girl per family and one boy. I sigh before I open the door.
"Hello?" I say. "Mom, dad where are you?"
"In the dining room Lila." My mom says.
I put my bag on the nobs. And walk over to the dining room. I smooth my shirt down so it doesn't look like I did something wrong. My dad looks up at me and smiles. My little brother Ky smiles too. I smile at them and take a seat in between mom and dad.
"Good Afternoon," My dad says. "We have a message for you from the Elders."
I freeze. "Why would they want to talk to me?" I start to panic do they know I run all the time? Are they going to release me to elsewhere?
My dad sees the worry and puts a soothing hand on my shoulder. "It's ok Lila. They are going around to every dwelling and checking on how each 12 is doing in school before the ceremony in December."
I look at his eyes which are a beautiful shade of green. I just nod.
