Mythology Revealed
This is a book covering snippets of major mythological worlds. I will start with Greek Mythology before moving on to Roman, Egyptian, Norse, and many more mythologies. If you are a fan of Rick Riordian's books, this book will explain the legends he based his books off of. Note that this is a work in progress; I will try to add a chapter at least once a week (Probably more!) If there is any information you want me to add in any of my existing chapters, let me know! I will give you proper acknowledgement for your help with this book. Enjoy!

Olympian Beginnings: The Titan Story
Chapter 2
Onto Chapter Two! This chapter will discuss the story of how the gods came to power. I feel this myth should be explained before detailing the gods, as this is their history.
We start with the earth and the sky again. Gaea and Ouranos, as you may recall, gave birth to the Titan race. Their leader, Kronos (or Cronus), was possibly Gaea's favorite. She had a truly evil plan. Her husband threw another set of her children, the Elder Cyclopes, into Tartarus. Gaea approached Kronos and gave him the task of slaying Ouranos with his own scythe. He succeeded, and the Titans now ruled the earth, which appeased Gaea. She sunk into a slumber, and was peaceful.
Kronos and another Titan, Rhea, gave birth to a new race, which would eventually become the gods. His children were Hestia, Hades, Demeter, Poseidon, Hera, and Zeus. Worried about a prophecy that his children would overthrow him and rule the world, Kronos decided to eat them. He succeeded in eating the first five children I mentioned. However, Rhea, depressed by the loss of her children, gave birth to Zeus in secret, and his him in a cave in Crete. She gave Kronos a rock, tricking him into thinking it was his son. He ate the rock, and was lulled into a false sense of security.
When Zeus was grown up, he set out to rescue his siblings from the pit of Kronos's stomach. Since they were are immortal, they could survive inside the stomach. Zeus cut open the stomach, and freed his siblings. War then erupted between the gods and the Titans. The gods succeeded, and cut Kronos up in many pieces and scattered his essence in Tartarus. Zeus rescued the Cyclopes from the eternal pit, and they forged the lightning bolt for Zeus. Gaea, in her anger, created a humongous monster known as Typhon, which the Olympians barely defeated. The Olympians had won, and they now rule the earth. They divided up the sky, sea, and underworld between the three elder brothers: Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades.
Next chapter, I will start to discuss the Olympians in detail, starting with the children of Kronos.
