Chapter 10
The Sorting Hat
The Sorting Hat is a magical hat that sorts students into their houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The four houses are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin.
Each year the Sorting Hat sings a new song about the houses. Sometimes it will use said song to warn students that they ought to be sticking together.
The Sorting Hat can also come to your rescue, as you can pull something out of it. Both Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom have pulled the Sword of Gryffindor out of, which is something ‘Only a True Gryffindor’ can do.
The hat was created by the four founders of Hogwarts. Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff, and Salazar Slytherin. It originally belonged to Godric Gryffindor but is now the property of Hogwarts.
When not being used to Sort students on the first day of term, the Sorting Hat resides on a shelf in the Headmaster’s/Headmistress’s office.

Broomsticks
One of the most well known Wizarding World objects is broomsticks. Used for travel, Quidditch, and more broomsticks are great.
There are many different types of broomsticks, the most prominent in the series being the Nimbus 2000 (Harry), the Nimbus 2001 (Malfoy), the Cleansweep 11 (Ron), and the Firebolt (Harry, Krum). There are a few others but it’ll take forever for me to list them all so I won’t.
Also, Dolores Umbridge took Harry Potter, Fred Weasley, and George Weasley’s broomsticks for a period of time in the order of the Phoenix.
