Good Progression
Chapter 3
Summer - 1991
By the end of my first year I was saying goodbye to Charlie Weasley, who was going to train with dragons. I knew I didn’t have time any longer to play with as many animals but somehow every year a different animal found its way into my life.
In my second year I had clearly progressed after Flobberworms because that year we took in a ton of billywigs. They are insects that fly very quickly and, again, were being used in potions, dyes and sweets. I had them in a glass cabinet in my bedroom. I had to be careful, of course, these were not boring, mundane creatures, you could get a serious allergy from them but it didn’t matter. I learnt to appreciate them and the were fascinating to watch. Their personalities really shone through, well at least the did to me. Unlike some people I still eat fizzing whizbees but I have an appreciation of the ingredients that have gone into the product.
Summer - 1992
This summer we went on holiday to Paris and Professor Quirrell disappeared. It was the start of what I could only say was a strange year. I didn’t get to do very much so I helped out at the magical menagerie and helped de-gnome the burrow. It was brilliant. Although why they didn’t get a Jarvey was beyond my comprehension at the time. I looked into renting one for them but it seemed a ridiculous about of money. They did have, however a ridiculous number of gnomes in the garden.
