As they walked along the halls, they made no move to talk as if any sound would shatter the moment around them. Finally when they had reached the great hall, they turned around and Wayne opened his mouth to speak. Iris looked at him and their eyes met. 

wayne looked startled but kept himself prepared. "well .... um i wanted to tell you ...." he said before he was interrupted by iris "before you continue..... know that the kiss meant nothing... you are not responsible for or to me" Iris looked almost sick but she kept a strong face, Wayne looked stunned and bluntly said "where  is that coming from" he felt offended almost for no reason.

 "i saw you with my sister.... i am not ever going to fight over you or anyone when i am against her... it never works out and she always wins" Iris said and she was getting a bit hysterical. "what are you talking about....this is insane.... i only ever talked to her this morning and that  was to ask her  about you....." he said in exasperation. 

Iris was crying as she mumbled out "why would you ever talk about someone like me?" she sounded as if she didn't believe him. "because, you idiot of a girl, I am in love with you and you baffle me to an extent that she was the only one who could help me" he said and had grabbed her by the shoulders almost desperately. 

Iris wiped her eyes and bites her lip as she looked at him but avoided his eyes. "I'm sorry...I just.... I lost hope that  you could ever love me or even like me because what reason could you have" she mumbled.
