Iris missed the comments that hazel was making as Wayne's Close friends, James Riddle, a slytherin, and Lucas Tonks, a Gryffindor, came toward her. James and Lucas , though in different houses and not caring for each other as much as they liked Wayne, were not close or fond of anyone besides wayne or those that could benefit them. 

"hey Iris, come with us to see professor sprout" they had mischevious looks in their eyes but by the time she had moved to protest she was almost half way out of the great hall being dragged against her will. She noticed out of the corner of her eye that wayne had moved to talk to her sister and they were very serious looking, though anyone that didn't know her would have thought she was not being serious at all. 

she felt her insides do a flip. 'was he interested in hazel? was he using her to get to hazel?' Iris steeled her heart.'what did it matter to her?  she was just a childish fifth year who was yearning after a sixth year who could have whoever he wanted'. Iris felt james and lucas looking at her in almost concern as her expressions showed her inner turmoil. 

she calmed herself before saying "what did you need to talk to professor sprout for?" 'she could understand if they needed the professor but why was she, Iris, needed?' Almost right away she could tell they were guilty. "oh.... right...we need you to help us on our homework and we wanted to ask her if you could be informed of the sixth year herbology projects since you are definately smart enough" Lucas said sheepishly. 

Though Iris only half believed him she felt herself smile. She was pleased that she was seen as smart and would definately enjoy extra work in herbology. "alright well i think she would be in greenhouse three preparing for a lesson." Iris said warmly. she saw the look of relief on their faces and her suspicions crystalized
