Chapter 1
"(Y/N)!" your best friend, Rosaly, calls. She's a fellow Ravenclaw like you, and yet she'd rather party than study, unlike you. Sometimes you think she should be some other house. Rosalyclaw?

"What?" you call back as she hurries to catch up, her book bag bouncing against her full bust. She's out of breath when she reaches you, but she still exudes energy like a lightbulb.

"Did you see the bulletin board?" she asks.

"No," you say, rolling your eyes. She bounces up and down,

"They're starting a tutoring program, (Y/N)! They're looking for students who'd be interested in tutoring."

"And you're thinking of applying?" you say incredulously. She laughs that fake laugh she thinks attracts guys, a tinkling sound that you find super annoying.

"No, silly! You should apply!" You balk.

"Rosaly, you know I don't tutor people."

"But so many people have asked you! This is your chance!" You shake your head.

"I'm not outgoing like you."

"Please!" she whines. She turns on those puppy dog eyes that you can't resist.

"Fine!" you say. "I'll apply!" Rosaly squeals in delight.

"We're going to get you out there and seen, (Y/N)!" You roll your eyes,

"As a nerd?" She shrugs,

"Well, I can't have you stealing my spotlight, can I?" You laugh and punch her shoulder. You both head to class, Rosaly chattering away as you think about what you've gotten yourself into.

Because if there's one thing you know for sure- you're an introvert, and you'd rather spend time with a book than a person.

.....

You walk up to Professor Flitwick, rolling and unrolling your application with sweaty hands.

"Ah! You're applying for our tutoring program, (Y/N)?" he says. You nod, handing the slip of paper over. You almost hope he won't accept you, but as he looks over your application, he nods and hums.

"Well, (Y/N), we'll be glad to have you. You will receive an owl with your student assignment in one week's time!" Your stomach tightens with worry, but you nod,

"Thank you, Professor." You walk off to Potions, still convinced you made a stupid, stupid decision by applying.

You'll tutor someone in your own year as much as they need it. Which means if you have an utterly failing student, you'll be spending all your time working with them. And chances are you'll get some rude, mean student.

Rosaly pats the seat next to her, but Snape's ahead of you two and partners you with one of the Ravenclaws you don't really talk to.

"Saw you applying for the tutoring program! That's great, it'll really help us." Oh, that's right. It's the prefect. You don't really pay attention to others. That's why you ignore all of the Harry Potter drama. I mean, what's the point in it all?

Your stomach clenches again as you wonder- what if you get Potter or one of his friends? Then you'll really be part of the drama. You shake it off and try to pay attention; it is O.W.L. year, after all. But your mind keeps straying to the tutoring program. Oh, brother. It's going to take over your life.

.....

The owl comes at breakfast. The letter gets dropped into your hands. Rosaly squeals and leans over your shoulder.

"Whoisitwhoisitwhoisit?!" You shrug,

"I'm regretting this." Sweat is gathering in the palms of your hands. Finally you yank the scroll open. A message from Flitwick lies inside.

To (Y/N) (L/N):

Thank you for joining our tutoring program. Your student is Draco Malfoy.

Professor Flitwick

You set your hands on the table, hard, turning to Rosaly in horror. You whip your head around to the Slytherin table, stomach twisting as you see Draco staring back at you. He raises an eyebrow, his mouth set in a firm line.

"Well, it looks like you'll be getting an adventure after all," Rosaly laughs. You swear under your breath. You may not have gotten Potter, but you got his enemy, and that's even worse. Slamming your fist on the table, you storm off to class without finishing breakfast.

.....

You walk into Flitwick's classroom to meet with Draco. He's already there, a piece of paper ready to make your tutoring schedule. You dump your bag on the ground and uncharacteristically slouch into your chair. He laughs,

"Overdramatic much?" You glare,

"Shut up, git. Let's get this over with."

"You aren't usually like this, are you?" he asks with a smirk.

"This is not what I signed up for!" you say, rummaging for a quill. He lays one in front of you.

"Just use mine." You suspiciously take it, eyeing him as he smiles a little.

"You're cute when you're mad." That sets you off again,

"I'm your tutor, Malfoy, not your blind date!" He waves you off,

"Fine, (Y/N), fine." Grumbling, you scratch dates and times onto his parchment.

"We're supposed to meet in the empty classroom next to Binns' classroom." Draco just nodded.

"Look, do you really want me to tutor you, or should I request another student and leave you to fail your O.W.L.S.?" He shrugs,

"Calm down, (Y/N)." You pack up your stuff.

"I'll see you on Tuesday night, Malfoy. And you should know- I'm a hard tutor."
