caught up inside and for the first time actually think. I never used to think of the Muggle things but I feel that all this writing has made me think about everything. The battle that my Muggle relatives fought and the battles that we fought in the wizarding community. Battles that each and every one of us were a part of and that we have all experienced the terror of.
Some people understand the terror of being in a war. Of having your home torn apart. Some people experienced the effects of war when they were all too young and will never understand what it did to them. For me, well I was young enough in the first war. Barely even alive. But I fought in the second. If you can even call it fighting. I call it pain. I was a caught between every world possible. Between the good the hated, the tortured and the protected. I didn’t kill then, but I mourn now.
I mourn my uncle, my father, my mother, my friends. I remember them as they were in happy times, I remember what they taught me but I hold close the ones that remain even more. My godmother, my friends, my boyfriend and my sister. I hold them close despite what has happened.
Remembrance Day may only be important to those in Britain. I don’t know but it stands for every war, for every person and in every time. Remember me, and I will remember you. I am from jewish, magical and elvish heritage and today I understand the muggle side of me. My mother’s relatives were in Britain long before the Holocaust but were probably related to many that died in concentration camps, I believe this to be the reason my grandfather always told me I was a British Jew (no I didn’t understand). My father’s family would have been on the British side fighting the Germans, although knowing them they probably bought their way out of service by giving money to the army. I don’t know.
Whatever way I know that I am part Muggle.
