Yes they do. And like all parents I probably don’t understand them as well as I should do.
1: LONG-TIME NO SEE of course means HOW ARE YOU? In Elvish you will say a translation that sounds more like… How are you now that the winds of change are on your side? (basically, you ask them about the weather, Perhaps there was a full moon recently so you include that or…)
2: NO WORRIES! Now this is more American meaning it doesn’t matter but at home we say DON’T WORRY or in Elvish it comes out more as… Swift is the bird that echoes through the trees.
3: SWEEP IT UNDER THE CARPET: Very English (carpet = rug in U.S English) and that is to deny something. In Elvish, for once, we are simpler. Wait for the leaves to fall.
