The Eyes Of The Cat
written by Dora Scamander
I'm Amanda Figg - just your average 13 year old girl. Well, aside from some bizzare eye powers, very strange relatives, and cats that understand everything you say - yeah, my life is totally normal.

Just Average
Chapter 1
Amanda Figg.
Yup, that's me. The average in everything girl - average height, average personality, average life.
Average Amanda.
Huh, I've literally written less than a paragraph but have already said the word average five times.
Anyway.
I live in the UK in Surrey, on a simple street called Ripley road, with mum, whose real name is Audrey, and the cat, Popinjay. There I live the average life I was talking about - wake up, walk to school, do school, walk home, watch TV, read, go to bed, wake up, walk to school, do school... you get it.
I s'pose reading is the only interesting part of my life - burying my nose in a book to get away from boring reality is always nice.
And that's it.
Well... there is ... another thing.
Would you call being able to move objects with your eyes interesting?
It doesn't happen often. And when it does, I don't mean to do it. I just reach for my eraser and then suddenly it's floating in the air moving wherever I look. And when I do try to do it it never works.
That's why Mum doesn't know about it. She doesn't believe me when I try to tell her about it, and I gave up trying to convince her years ago.
The only person that does believe me is Sam.
Samantha! How could I forget to put her on the interesting list? She is definitely interesting, but more than that, she's my best friend. And though she's never seen me move anything 'magically', she says she knows it's true. Why? Cause we're friends - and, as she says, partly because I'm a very bad liar.
